BEAR Scotland’s Commitment
BEAR Scotland has been appointed by Transport Scotland, to manage and maintain the North East Trunk Road Units from 1st April 2007 for a term of 5 to 7 years.
Management functions include:
- Co-ordinating all works on the trunk road network to minimise delays to the travelling public
- Authorising road openings, scaffolding and skips
- Carriageway, bridges, road lighting and footway inspections
- Investigation, design and supervision of carriageway improvement and traffic safety schemes
- Approving abnormal load movements
- Liaison with the Local Authorities, Police, Statutory Undertakers and other organisations
Maintenance operations include:
- Routine carriageway, bridges, safety barriers and road lighting repairs
- Cyclic maintenance such as grass cutting and gully cleaning
- Carriageway reconstruction and resurfacing and the provision of specialist surface treatments
- Replacement of road markings and road signs
- Emergency response
- Winter precautionary salting and snow clearance
